Looking Back on Christmas

It’s January now, a new year and everything, but I still wanted to share some Christmas memories. We had a somewhat quiet Christmas this year. More festivities than last year, when it was just the three of us in Panama, but kind of different without my Grandma who was always very present at Christmas time.

So here are a few snapshots of Christmas at our place:

We went to see my family a couple days after Christmas and not only celebrated Christmas, but my Dad’s retirement! I was thrilled to be there for the last time he walked in the door after his last day at work:

That night we had a surprise meal/retirement party for him at a local Mexican restaurant with some friends and family:

That weekend we enjoyed snow and Natasha’s new snowpants!

Post Script on Natasha’s winter garb:  She is wearing mittens that were given to her as a baby shower gift from a friend at church. Chris, do you recognize them? :) She loves that they are pink. The matching hat is too small this year, but she wore it a lot her first winter. When I was putting it away with the other out-grown items, she said, “I will wear it again…when I am a baby!” I tried to explain that it doesn’t work that way, but she insisted she would wear it again someday. Not sure how this is going to pan out!

Opening gifts was fun…especially Daddy’s continued amazement with all his new Kindle Fire could do!

Daniel and I cooked breakfast for Christmas dinner.

At some point that weekend I took a snowy walk with my sister.

We visited our favorite dog’s grave. My sister actually wrote a little book for Natasha about Corkie, our beloved farm dog. It was one of the best Christmas gifts ever.

So here’s to a wonderful 2013 full of all things new and unknown! Blessings to one and all!

And some of us can now begin to feel old. I heard that there are now teenagers who were born in the 21st century.
