Braving the Wind of the West Coast

Shortly after Wes and Lydia and baby Myah arrived, we packed up into our two Hyundai Accent rental cars and started out on our big car trip around the South Island of New Zealand. This has been our plan for several months now and we were about ready to see more of New Zealand’s amazing scenery.

Our first official stop was at Pancake Rocks. We wish we could have stayed a little longer to soak the view up, but alas, we would have been soaked from incoming rain and chilled to the bone from cold. Okay, we were already chilled to the bone. It was very windy and even though the sun was shining, it was cold.

I was super glad we brought Natasha’s newly knitted wool hat and mittens (I made them with Australian wool from the local Spotlight store) along, but she was rightly concerned about her hat blowing off her head.
